The Black Wolf

Poem by Leigha Hunt

I was born to find my own way

Becoming the legend I am today

Time and time again I’d walk alone

Hunter and hunted my life was my own

Living in exile I’d make my escape

I could hear their call howling in dismay

Lonely and departed I was never there to stay

It was what 1 knew it was my own way

The cold winds blew the prey was scarce

How they’d taunt me with their nose in the air

Never did they throw me off track

Still the number one enemy was known as man

As 1 grew and as they called

I became the best of them all

I their leader most outlived

I wasn’t one known to give in

I expanded my territory

I became a true story

Then one day over I climbed

A cliff leaving behind a legacy

A legend in time
